Is there a reason you don't ever see hose bibs on the side of the house that are set up to deliver hot and cold water? I'm thinking of adding one.

Up North they have their reasons but down South & Texas the only reason I've heard, the only benefits have been washing trucks/cars/trailers. Certainly we have the panhandle & freezing bird baths.
Because most of us have to igloo/protect bibs winter time, 99.9% of clients do not ask for a Texas home hot water bib. I do recall some needing hot water doing a work around that might interest you:
Tank water heater located in garage (or buy a small electric one or similar)
Rubber hose long enough to reach problem/needy area
Hot water solution
Regular draining/purging of water heater tank
No need to protect yet another bib from winter

Be ause in texas we just hook up a 200 foot watwr hose and by 10 oclock the water is hotter than a water heater can get it

I have one near my driveway pad off the garage. I use it a lot more than I thought I would with washing pots from boils/frying, cars in the cooler temps, etc. We're on well water so I have it connected to my softener.
Only issue has been maintaining it during the recent freezes. I can shut off all exterior faucets at the well house except those two (hot and cold bib) since they're tied to my interior water supply through my softener.
Either way - I love it and will do it on any home I have.
ETA - I made a hose coupler to mix hot and cold water. I turn both on depending on heat desired. I have a tankless heater.

We replumbed the house last year and put one in. Great decision.

I've seen them installed when people have the free standing hot tubs on their back patios/backyards. Allows for you to replenish hot tub water with hot water so it doesn't take as long to heat.

Use it for washing the dog in the winter.
I had a separate shop with its own water heater. It was a necessity since we don't have a washer dryer in the house and needed one. Anyway, I plumbed everything and piped hot and cold water outside for a long countertop and sink to clean vegetables. I also plumbed a hot water bib which we also use for bathing horses washing cars, etc.
I don't know why it's not a thing but it's very useful.

I added one 4-5 years ago in my garage. Best thing ever. I'm in Denver and it's fine in the garage. I empty the water hose of course 3-4 months out of the year.
Wash truck any time of year, clean stuff easier with hot water, great for homebrewing.
Our ground water is cold in summer, so even washing dogs in summer, I make it warm.

I replumbed our entire home with PEX lines to every interior and exterior faucet during our home renovation due to prior slab leaks in our home and most neighbors homes as well. I installed a 36-port Manabloc manifold that feeds the water supply system. Nice thing about the manifold is that I just shut the 5 ports that feed the exterior spigots in the winter time and drain the lines. No hassles and no worries regarding freezing during the winter.
Next best thing is that I teed off a hot line and teed it into the cold water line feeding the exterior spigot by the garage to provide hot water when needed for power washing, etc. I just shut the cold line off and turn the hot line on and I get hot water at the spigot. Works great!

if you were redoing all that why not just have a hot and cold line go to the faucet with a proper spigot? Seems like a lot of work to have to go down to the water manifold and change hot or cold every time.Gary79Ag said:

I can do all cold, hot or blend right at the spigot depending on what I'm doing.
Also, even in denver winter we don't have to turn off spigots and drain. They make freeze proof spigots exactly for this.
Because I didn't think about a hot spigot when I was renovating the house. It was an after thought and the PEX crossover was my next best option.

I'm in the new home business. I've only seen people add hot n cold lines for outdoor kitchens. Not saying it isn't a good idea if you see yourself using it regularly.
Now I have seen several people add a 2nd hose bib with softened water. They used it to do a 'spot free' type rinse when they washed the car. Works great in places like San Antonio and Hill County areas where water is sourced from a limestone aquifer.
One of the newer cool things some people are doing is adding a dog washing station in their utility room.

I wouldn't say this is really 'new'.. We saw this in model homes when we bought in 2012.rwtxag83 said:
