I have a Hisense TV that only has HDMI inputs. I'd like to attach a couple of outdoor speakers to it. I'm not finding any speakers that connect only through HDMI. What's the inexpensive way to get a system set up? Will also need way to protect any other equipment from the weather.

Tv should have Bluetooth built into it, use that to send to a receiver. If the tv doesn't have Bluetooth built in, there should be a usb port. Buy a Bluetooth sender that plugs into the usb and send to a receiver.

been thinking of speakers for a Roku TV to do this, but always wondered about lag between audio and picture.

I bought a cheap Bluetooth sender and there is a slight lag. I mainly use the tv for sports, so it isn't really an issue. When the cheap Bluetooth sender dies I will buy a more expensive one. My inside tv has Bluetooth built in and there is no lag when I use my headphones. It is samsung.

Was looking into this but it appears you have to have the Roku app on your phone with you. Would rather not have to do this.

An HDMI audio extractor is what you seek. Can get them with analog or digital audio outputs depending on what your setup needs.

My outdoor TV has a digital optical jack; you can buy long optical cable and then a converter to standard analog jacks and hook your tv up to a receiver (or in my case a Sonos amp) to power outdoor / patio speakers.
