The black iron patio railing is feeling loose and the existing bolts are rusted. What type of anchor should I use to reattach it?

Just personally, I've had better luck with these metal style expansion anchors than regular Tapcons for brick/mortar.

There are some various sizes, but the holes may need to be reamed a little bit.

Thanks for the suggestion. I was thinking tapcon but then thought I better ask. I don't want to bugger up the holes and I certainly don't want to fail if somebody leans on it.

A world of difference between Tapcons and these. Haven't used Tapcons in years.

Might try a flange? Try King Architectural Metals.
