Looking to make the move from Ryobi to Milwaukee, started with getting a weed eater, edger, and a few other lawn tools so I already have some M18 stuff. Also have a propex gun so have a M12 battery.

What do you guys recommend for a simple drill? Should I get the M18 fuel brushless or make do with the M12?

I use my M12 1/4 driver for just about everything. If I need something bigger I'll bust out the M18 hammer drill.

Brushless is worth the price on impacts. You likely won't see a different with a normal drill.

Make sure you search around. Home Depot often has specials where you can buy a tool bundle and then return the tools you don't want.

Make sure you get the 12ah battery for the weed eater. I can get ~20-30 mins out of mine. Nearly does the whole yard.

Mostly DIY around the house, but I do tackle big projects around the house. I just built a 10x12 shed. In the next month or two will build an 18x14 gable patio cover.

I have both the M18 and M12. M12 Fuel is plenty powerful enough for pretty much anything you want to do around the house.

If you can, wait for a sale. Add Milwaukee to Slickdeals alerts and you will come across huge sales that get you extra batteries and free tools

Festool or GTFO.

In all seriousness, you can't go wrong with Milwaukee M18 brushless stuff.

I wish Dewalt would make a good weed eater & mower. All my tools, blower, shrub trimmer are Dewalt. Reviews are crap for their weed eater & mower though.

For household use, hanging pictures, drilling the random hole here and there, you'd be fine with the M12 drill. It's light, no chunky battery since the M12 battery loads like a pistol mag.

For heavier use on deck screws, lag bolts, etc, I'd go M18 Fuel impact driver.

That is a helluva deal!!! It's older generation (not sure which one) stuff, but that's a great set of automotive tools.

I recently upgraded from the old M18 to the new Fuel M18 brushless, no comparison, lighter, more powerful, quieter.

Got the hammer drill and small impact hex driver, love that thing.

Buy once, cry once!
