I recently had our AC company quit on us. He was servicing a couple of family members, myself included. Long story short one of them decided not to use him for a new install due to pricing and he basically said "if I don't get this install then I'm not servicing your other accounts either. Not sure why he'd do that but…I need a new AC guy now.
I found a company here on Texags called Wilks AC. They are well reviewed. However, I don't see that they are certified for any particular carrier I.e. "trane comfort specialist". I'm on Mobil doing that so maybe I missed it.
They can install anything, of course. My question is, does this affect warranties? If I want a Trane, for instance, and they install it, will I not be eligible for long term warranties?
I ask because I, I can install any shingle I want. They all kind of work the same, but I can offer extended warranties on three top brands because I have the top certs for them. If I didnt, then I cannot.
Is there any downside to using a company for AC that's not factory certified for whatever brand I want? I far prefer quality folks which these guys seem to be. I believe the install is more important than the brand but having a valid warranty is also important. I am a huge believer in annual maintenance on HVAC and I need to get back into that.
