Trying to help someone out: does a double wall oven have to be hard wired? Or can one use a four prong 50amp connector to the excising wall plug? previous double wall oven was not hardwired and plugged in….has its own breaker

What does the oven's installation manual say?

Be careful and check oven's electric requirements. As above, check the manual. There is also energy info on the mfg label inside the door.

My replacement double oven required a larger breaker and bigger wires running between breaker and oven. Edit: Oven mfg plate says 9.6KW. 9,600 watts divided by 240 Volts = 40 Amps. My existing breaker was only 30 Amp.

Ok they said it says hardwired. I guess they are curious why previous one wasn't? And why it calls for hardwire versus giving option to directly plug-in…

I think nec code says a permanently mounted wall oven and counter cook top have to be hardwired but freestanding ranges can have an outlet and cord on them
