Was looking into restaining my outoor deck. I live in Northwest Arkansas so hot summers and relatively chilly winters. Weighing water versus oil based and transparent to semi- transparent and think I have decided on Ready Seal semi-transparent oil base stain from Home Depot. Was wanting to do water based due to easier clean up and more environmentally friendly to our grass/plants but water based stain reviews were not that encouraging. Does anyone have personal experience with a good stain or experience with the Ready Seal deck stain? Thanks so much

I think I remember their advice as being a bit different from your choices.
If I might also "pile on" to what you'll find ... my story:
Architect boss designed an all redwood siding house, who amde it into a photo magazine and I fell in love with it, so my new house = redwood siding.
Of course I wouldn't want to cover up all that sexy, exotic to Aggieland wood, so .... all great architects advise "all wood needs is lindseed oil". Soooo top-o-line lindseed oil based very semi-transparent stain we go.
And go again
And finally the sun & weather "tans" the heck & sexy out of it and thus solid staining we are forced to go.

Of course the siding - like your skin - would have been better off if sunscreen/solid stain had been employed in the first place. Regrets? I have a few ... but again, too few to mention ....????
