What do they hate? We have been in this house since 2008 - yes it is country - and have never had this problem but the last 2 nights they have wiped out most of our potted plants & some of the annuals. Knock out roses must be like caviar to them.

Gone: impatients, bougainvillea, mandevilla, oak leaf hydrangea

They did not go after geraniums, begonias, petunias or regular hydrangea - yet - but they were probably full of every other flower & leaf in the yard.

Would love to have some flowering pots if nothing else. Ideas for somewhat shady areas?

Try some motion sensor sprinklers!

Vincas. Deer here eat everything including most "deer resistant" plants but leave Vincas alone.

My daughter would respond with "nothing".

Will do a test run with some vincas. We're generally not sunny enough for lantana where I need some stuff now. We do have some - I need to see if they where chomped.

What we've been told (and it seems to play out) is that it is more about what they'll go after anytime they see it, vs what they'll only go after if they don't have tons of options. But at the end of the day, they'll eat whatever is there if they are hungry.

We did a test run on some vincas last night. We bought a flat of them but didn't waste time planting yet, we just left them where they've been eating to see if they would. They were still there this morning so I guess we'll plant them.

My neighbors have a gorgeous yard. They use liquid fence. They spray it on and the deer don't like it.

Does it stink because they are coming right up to our porch?

When you apply it but not long after that. When you apply at initially though, it's really stinky. Smells like vomit and cheddar cheese blend together.

Well, that would certainly put a damper on living in the house for a while.

As soon as it dries it goes away.

salvia have survived deer population pn my prop.

Lavender is another good one that deer won't touch.

What part of Texas are we choosing plants for??
