My garage door opener doesn't stop any more when closing. It basically just keeps pushing on the door at the bottom until it triggers it from the pressure to raise back up again. When I tried to adjust the tension screw in the back, the little plastic piece pretty much disintegrated and fell out. So now I don't see a way to adjust the opener so that it stops in the correct spot. Is this repairable, or do I just need to replace the opener?

You can't program the travel limits on the opener itself? Mine has two buttons and I can hit the purple button for a second and then hold down the other while the door goes up or down. Once it reaches where I want it to stop I'm done.

Yeah, it sounds like the travel memory got changed or erased.

I went and looked at it again, and I was trying to adjust the open/close force screws in the back. On the side there were two other screws that adjusted the up/down travel distance. I was able to get it fixed by adjusting those screws. Thanks for the help!
