Have a bunch of metal planters that will have the natural rusted look to it. However would prefer a cleaner black paint applied to them, any advice on what type of paint would be best used for these?

I would powerwash or sandblast and spray red or grey oxide primer and then a oil base paint

I am not for sure but my paint suppliers keep telling me that latex will work on metal but I am just not for sure and to scared to try

Although most apartments front doors or metal and they spray with a latex

That adds up to what my landscaper said. He just said it was very expensive but seems like everyone I see is painted. Thought surely there was an easier less expensive way.

So guessing infinitely more difficult to do after install?

If they can paint indoors before you get them that is the way to so it

I know it would be expensive but if these were long term and you had away to get them there I would get them powder coated

If long term and money is no problem

Get Gem rust killer from Sherwin Williams
Coat them and let dry 24 hours


Then prime them with this and wait 24 hours

Then apply 2 coats of this
