I'm looking for a recommendation in BCS for a residential structural engineer. The wife is a little concerned about the integrity of our attached carport. It's wide enough to fit three cars in, but we don't find a large cross beam or any sort. It's probably been up for 30-40 years. The house is a 1955 model but the carport was an addition sometime later.

Edit - no signs of sagging, wall cracking, etc. she just noticed more creaking when she was in the attic above the carport.

If you want the very best, then contact Edwin Robinson at https://profengineering.com/. He will tell you the good, bad and ugly when he inspects and recommends. He will go to the BCS area, you will not be disappointed. You will thank me later. His phone is 713-664-1264.

Because it seems our local structural engineers are pulling away from anything residential (except foundations,
thankfully), you might pursue

Home Inspectors
Lumber Yard referrals of Master Framers ... who can also quote you can-do repairs costs on the spot
Phone call to local Home Builders Asso for a referral

If you will post all details here (perhaps photos as well) you might get some fun opinions.
Clear span of beams & joists
Sizes of beams & joists w/spacings
Amount of storage weight imposed on such framing (weight of wife that makes it all creak & where)

I will get some measurements and pictures. As for the spouse's weight, not gonna happen even though it's not much
