I bought a house 7 years ago with an LG art cool that's in our west facing master bedroom and is an absolute necessity in summer. It needs replaced as it has possible mold inside.

Do you all recommend just buying another inside unit since the outside is already installed or switching to a newer mini split that's smaller?

Also, any recommendations on who can replace/install this for me?

This system has a 4.3/5 Google rating with some disgruntled one-star reports ... which could be an installer's fault, the most important factor of any HVAC system, IMHO.

Since you make NO mention of an entire house remodeling project and no other data to take my blindfold off, then I as led to agree in this manner:
  • replace only the indoor unit IF they have one that will marry well to the outdoor unit (not always the case as the years roll past)
  • Shade the exterior of that West wall! 1) erect a lattic wall for fast growing vines (or grow them on the house wall), 2) create a garden bed for fast growing tall shrubs and Chinese Pistache trees + one distant Live Oak to finally take over in 7+ years
  • Pergolas erect quickly, giving shade until vines finally cover them, plenty of 800 numbers will come to serve
  • if you can't add insulation to that hot wall, add it to the attic, then hang heavy, insulative wall hanging inside, be they art/craft blankets or upholstery
Ten words or less ... a goal unattainable

I just bought a 18k Mr. Cool for the Garage. I still have to pull out the old wire feeding the garage and pull a higher gauge wire so I can get this hooked up. I"ll report back once I get it hooked up, but there are multiple folks around my neighborhood with this unit that love it.

I installed one of these. It was very easy to do.

finally got my Mr cool installed yesterday. I screwed up a couple of things (wrong hole saw bit for hardie, making the hole drop too steep, etc.) but it was pretty easy to install.

worked on the golf cart last night and man it was nice to not feel like I was working in a sauna.

going to be really nice when I get the insulation installed and the sheetrock installed.

If you're on the fence about a Mr. Cool.....don't be. buy it.
