Looking to do built ins in our home office. A friend recommended thertastore for painted, pre-made cabinetry but all of the bases are 34 1/2 inches in height, more for kitchen/bathroom level than sitting at a desk.

Anyone recommend another site that may have the basic office base (drawer, door,) with matching wall cabinets for above?

Ikea comes up frequently on "The Money Pit" home improvement advice radio show .... but I disagree with 20% of their advice ....

Is there no Furniture that suits you?
I just saw a Free cabinet on NextDoor.com for which I really wish had a space ....
New rolltops are EZ to get these days.

Thanks for posting. We want to do a dual seated desk station with butcher block top across the way. Then 5 uppers for storage/bookshelf. So, a whole furniture unit is far more expensive than piecing this all together.

RTA is great and we'd buy but again, all their base units are 34 1/2. It seems IKEA has what we need…do we risk it? Will it stay put?

The furniture comes with you upon house sale and built ins might reduce resale price if new Owner intends to rip them out.
That said, built-ins last forever and some furniture never achieves "antique" status, not even close.

I did something very similar to that without the uppers. Lemme find a pic. My wife does interior design and has a good cabinet lady for a budget as well if you want me to dig up the name.

These lowers are not cabinets like you're thinking but I'm pretty sure 2 of them are filing cabinet bases but they worked exactly like we wanted them to. Sorry the pics are kind of far away but we're just for an overview of the room when we put the house up for rent.

I did cabinets.com for a project and they had a ALOT of options and the quality thus far has been great.

I also used Cabinets.com and I've been happy with them so far. The build quality and options were on the higher end of what is offered from a lot of sites

Ikea is exactly what you are looking for. Had great luck with the boxes. Preference is to get custom doors for them though.

We have Ikea cabinets (vanities and storage) in two bathrooms after a remodel 8-10 years ago. They look better than the painted, custom kitchen cabinets built at the same time.
