How long do you want to ignore this user?
Feel like my insurance rates (home and auto) continue to climb. I've had some people tell to look into Goosehead Insurance. I understand they are a broker, but just because they bring me something cheap doesn't mean I'm going to be happy if the worst happens. Anyone worked with them or have any suggestions?

TIA

I've used them for a while now (I use their Dallas area office, the CS office is less than responsive in my experience). It is a simple process, and they have always done a great job of explaining my concerns which are similar to what you have such as why is company x so much cheaper etc. I honestly don't see the point to having an insurance agent any more. Any claims you will be dealing directly with the company.

I recently switched from Liere to Goosehead because they were able to find me something cheaper.

A couple things, first, these brokers aren't going out and finding the absolute cheapest insurance out there. They're still using reputable companies. Their reputation is on the line as well.

Second, I think insurance is one of those things where some people like to equate more $ to better and it's just not the case. USAA, for example, seemingly has been increasing price and reducing customer service in the last few years. No insurance company out there is going to prioritize and take special care of your case just because you've been with them for 10+ years and are paying double what others are.....they are equal opportunity screw overs.

Moved to them last year. My experience - the guy seemed stretched thin. Completely missed binding 1 of the policies I specifically asked for. Good thing I caught his miss.

He also failed to tell me about an extra $95 fee that the company we went with was gonna charge me after the policy was bound.

Nice people. Responsive. Liked the quote & insurance companies they used. I suspect I'll use them again for my renewal this year.

We use Grace Johnson and she's been great. Very responsive and detailed. We were looking at replacing a roof so she ran all policies for the current and with a new roof to show us the savings and to ultimately pick who would be cheaper after replacement.

We're currently in the market for a new house and she's been very responsive when we have questions about how certain aspects of homes would effect our rate: if it has a pool, age of the home, one was on a fault line, etc.

I used them recently to shop rates. They worked very hard and did a good job. They were responsive and provided me with exactly what I asked for. I'd not hesitate to use them.

My contact at gooseneck completely stopped responding to me during my recent home buying experience. I was trying tonget a homeowners and umbrella policy. We had been under contract on 2 other homes before this purchase so maybe he was annoyed, idk, but i went with liere on this house. I think they have all of my homes now.

A good buddy of mine moved from Allstate to Goosehead last year. He just saved me a good bit on my home/auto policies. I finally got around to asking him for quotes last week. Very helpful and easy process. PM me if you want his info.

I stuck with Liere, they were much more honest with me. Started to switch to Goosehead and it was a bad experience, so switched everything back to Liere.

Been with Goosehead for about 5 years. Saved me a tremendous amount of money. I dealt with a claim from Snowmaggendon. Went smooth as could be.

My guess is like anything else. The customer service/response time is different depending on the agent you are using.

I'd be curious what kind of % decrease you were seeing with the new roof quotes. I've had the same thought. Roofs around me are only $15 to $20k. The breakeven point when my insurance is approaching $6k could be fewer years than I'd have previously thought.

This is my experience with them after two years and a good rep, the rep changed and service went to *****

Any recs on a particular rep at Goosehead? Am I able to change reps within the company as an existing customer? Mine was kind of giving me frat boy vibes and didn't communicate all that well with me. He did end up saving me a lot of money though.

I guess I have one of those rare instances however when I went out with them to quote they were not able to find something lower than what State Farm was currently charging me.

Experience was overall fine, except on their we site it said they had x rate which was quite a bit cheaper than what I am currently paying however when I received the actual quotes they were all higher than what I pay. I'm not saying that is a bait and switch but that did not give me an overall optimistic experience about using goose head.

I have Goosehead. Not easy to get ahold the agents with questions.

Are y'all able to login to goosehead to see your payment info, policies, change, cancel, etc

Didn't seem like that was an option back when I signed up with them

I've been with Goosehead for probably 5 years now. Mostly positive experiences, and I don't hesitate to continue using them. Just recently reshopped my homeowners with Jenna Carter and all went smoothly. She works for Casey Woodfin who has helped a bunch of people here.

Ive had nothing but problems with them. Multiple errors on documents.

No response when asked about significant raise in premiums when I was told their fee included them shopping around. Finally got a big decrease but they invoiced the wrong mortgage company and again went silent. Despite daily emails and calls from me. Mortgage company ended up renewing me on the older more expensive company.

They also provided no assistance or advice when my wife was hit and the driver at fault's insurance was being difficult.

Loved the low rates but you get what you pay for.

I've been with Liere for 7-8 years and shopped Bryan against a Goosehead rep and another agent on this site last fall. Neither could get me a quote from a reputable carrier that beat my current coverage.

I've gotten strong "fly by night" vibes from the two Goosehead agents I've talked to over the last 10 years but I'm sure there are exceptions within the company.

I was with Goosehead for about 3-4 years and they were very good at first but then they stopped responding to my requests despite multiple attempts. I switched to Liere and had a much better experience.

I've had the same experience with GooseHead. Seemed good at first but I can't get anyone to respond to an email or call now. Who are you using at Liere? I'm in Houston if that matters. Looking to shop around home and auto. TIA.

I've been with them for about 5 years and am about to move on from them. The "agent" I used is unresponsive. I got my renewals a month ago, and after I picked myself up from the floor, I called and emailed the agent. Still have not seen a response. When I call the 800 number, it's 10+ minutes of waiting to get ahold of someone.

I bought a new car earlier this year and went online through the company they signed me up with to add the car. I received the confirmation they received my info, but nothing ever changed. After a couple of weeks of hoping "well, maybe this just takes time," I called the agent and got no response. I finally waited through the 800 number and they didn't see anything I had submitted and had to redo it all over the phone.

If that's their business model, then screw them. If something happens and I need to file a claim, I want someone who is responsive, not a rando on the other end of an 800 number because the agent is MIA.

**edit**
When I renewed last year, they didn't send coverage to the mortgage company, so I kept getting notices from the mortgage company that they would be buying me insurance unless I provided them with the proof of coverage. I called the mortgage company and asked what I needed to do, and they said the agent needed to send some particular document to them. It took almost 2 weeks to get a response from the agent to get that sent over.

I'd consider giving them a chance by changing reps, but I'm not paying their fee again.

Honestly, I'm the exact opposite of the above. I had Liere for 8+ years. Great at first but then never looked at my policy, just autorenewed and slow to respond. Even had the exact scenario of the above where they didn't send my policy to my mortgage company so they were about to charge me for an insurance policy. I was the one who had to pull all documentation together and send it to them.

Goosehead has been way more responsive. But I've only been with them for 9ish months now.

Honestly, I'd guess it's a combination of who your agent is and the standard new customer service model of valuing your new and potential customers but forgetting old customers.

I will say the Goosehead fee is annoying. But I took it into consideration with all prices and they still saved me like $500 compared to Liere.
