My LG refrigerator has an error code and apparently the part I need is hard to find - or maybe discontinued? The only appliance shop that was willing to work on it can't be here for a week and then would likely take another week to return with parts. I've already been down a fridge for almost a week. Home Depot has refrigerators on sale so we upgraded.

What do I do with the old fridge? It's 1.5 years old and like new other than the error code which is potentially a $110 ice maker fan. Sell it for $300 on Facebook marketplace with an honest description? Pay someone to haul it off and quit wasting time?

If you're reading this and will come get it, TexAgs discount $150 and I'll help you load it with my refrigerator dolly. Zip code 76044. Otherwise - give me ideas on what to do with this thing. I already have a garage fridge and freezer - the old heavy kind that will outlive me.

Model info in pic. It's a French door fridge with two freezer drawers. Ice & water in the door. Supposedly needs part # ABA74248415.

Resale on consignment https://www.yelp.com/biz/rebas-resale-joshua
Donation deduction on IRS taxes https://www.goodwill.org/locator/
and many other fine organizations, some will even pickup or help unload at their end. e.g.
PBS stations, Scouts Troops, Church kitchens in need, etc.

NextDoor.com has been successful in Aggieland, perhaps not in your locale?
eBay almost as good as Facebook for large items like this BUT be SURE it's posted as PICKUP ONLY

One neighbor simply uses Street Magic ... free sign posted on it at curb
One friend made a deal at local applicance fixit shop to fixit, then sell on consignment ... money for all.
Ten words or less ... a goal unattainable

Did you call LG? Don't most have a 2 year warranty?

Contacted LG. On list for repair tech to diagnose, unknown timeline.

This model is 1 year parts & labor on whole unit and potentially more warranty depending on diagnosis. The supposed diagnosis of a single part is from appliance parts pro online - help line.

Already have new fridge coming and need to get this resolved timely.

Every appliance I've ever bought included hauling off the old one. If you sell it, just be honest. I've gotten more than a few free ones because they were broken. I'm game for that since I have to fix them. I will not pay for broken items though. For what it's worth, I tried to ditch a RV washer dryer for a long time. A 2,000 dollar Lg product. I Never got bites while trying to sell and I ended up taking it on my 16' trailer with all my other scrap for .10 per pound.

We recently bought a washer, a few years ago a fridge. They definitely charge to haul off old appliances.

I had an LG fridge that came with a house I bought. It was about 3 years old when the compressor started making a lot of noise. It still worked, but was very loud. I called 4 different appliance repair companies and none of them even offered to give me a repair quote. As soon as I said LG, they each basically said they weren't going to waste their time trying to repair it. They all had similar stories about trying to fix them in the past and rarely succeeding, which led to dissatisfied customers. I'm glad they were honest, at least, and didn't try to waste my time.

I put it on FB marketplace for $150, disclosed what was wrong with it, and it was gone that same day. I replaced it with a GE Profile 3 years ago and it's been trouble free.

I've been told "if they make phones, don't buy their appliances."

My experience with the Samsung refrigerator the sellers of our house left (unexpectedly) in the kitchen supports this conclusion. At first it, seemed like a "bonus" but now that impression hardly stands up. It has 2 ice makers and both have needed repair. We've retired the upper one for good and won't spend any more on any repairs. The next glitch, we buy a new fridge.

We bought an LG washer and dryer over a decade ago and they are still rolling along. Do they still make phones?

Have a higher end Electrolux fridge on the other hand that has been very problematic from the get go.

My LG fridge just turned 13, but I'll admit to being an outlier.

Also "they don't build them like they used to!" is something I've been hearing my whole life. I'm not sure exactly when these good old days were but it seems like they're always about 10-15 years back. Long enough ago so that all the disposable junk has been disposed of and people have forgotten all about it.

Sounds like a garage beer fridge to me. Who needs the ice maker for that?
Being in TexAgs jail changes a man……..no, not really

That's what I thought at first too but it seems to be effecting the operation of the whole fridge

UPDATE: listed on marketplace for $250 with full disclosure. Sold it for $200 in 30 minutes.

LG responded today. They gave me a link to their website and 3 repair technician options. Glad I sold it last night since LG was no help.
