One of my boys decided to put the melted candlewax in the kitchen sink. Initially, my wife cleared the stoppage with lots of boiling water.

I am not handy in any way. Any advice on how to make sure this doesn't cause further issues? Our dishwasher now has standing water, but I think that's because my wife put so much water down the sink that it pushed the water into the dishwasher. I didn't get home until really late last night and now I am in damage control.

Advice appreciated.

I would imagine that the wax would have initially collected at the bottom of the p-trap. So, I would first disassemble the p-trap and manually remove any wax that remains in it.

Not to insult your intelligence, but this is what a p-trap looks like. Wasn't sure exactly what you meant when you said you weren't handy in any way.

Not insulting at all. I googled it after you said it. I can do many things, handy work is not one of them. I am pretty clueless when it comes to terms and building things. I don't mind being honest about it.
