Does that seem right?
This seems high to me, but that is what our policy says under deductible clause 1
(Wind, hail, etc). It's basically 2% of our dwelling amount. Roof is 12 yrs old. Infinity
Roofing was in our neighborhood a couple weeks ago and went up and took photos and said that there was definitely hail damage. Any way to lower this number without committing some kind of insurance fraud

Yeah, that sounds about right. When you renew your policy, you can pay a higher premium for a 1% wind and hail.

Not sure how the timing of all that works with when the hail occurs and how long you have to make a claim. Seems like it could be tricky and something an insurance company might call into question.

On the positive side, our premium went down after replacing the roof.

Yep, when I replaced my roof they mailed me a prorated credit for the year I'd paid.

It could be right. I encourage you to check your paperwork or call your agent to verify before making a claim if there is any concern with wanting to pay that much. This is part of what your roofer should be helping to figure out.

Yes, there are legal ways to offset deductibles but it is case by case and depends on how much collateral you have. I've inspected a lot of Ags over the past week along with other customers and deductibles can range from 500-12,000 or more. It just depends on what you signed up for and what roof you have/size. I also have a few customers that finance the deductible if it's stout.

3 years ago a box of framing nails was $22. Now they are $44. Now multiply that through all materials in construction and you get your answer for increased premiums
