Just wondering if anyone else has had their home painted and a rough estimate of cost . Just got quoted 8500 for paint and some minor wood repair. Home is mostly brick with windows and trim being painted.

Where do you live? Anywhere close to Houston? I'd be happy to get you an estimate. I live in Magnolia but we go all over.

Feel free to call or text me 713-202-1564 Jesse.

To clarify, are you trying to paint your brick?

If it's a 1 story, you should go get a Graco airless spray ($500) assume maybe 20 gallons of paint, maybe $1600 for paint?, prep accessories ($500) and do this on a weekend. Pay for someone to power wash on a Friday and you'll be ready to go on a Saturday.

No, just window and roof trim and some a few areas of siding. We are located in Dallas.

We just got a quote yesterday for the exact same thing in Rockwall. Single story 3200 sq ft home for $7500. Had some friends recently do this for around $6000 so I think there is definitely some significant variance.

that's insane if the home is mainly brick

I painted a lady's kitchen a few years ago, walls and trim only, for just under $1000. I wouldn't touch a whole house paint job for less than 8-9k. If it's too expensive, you can save a lot of money if you buy your paint, gear, and supplies at Home Depot and knock it out yourself.

The OP does not mention house size, how are we to know whether his price is good or not?

He did say single story and just windows and roof trim. $8K-$9k for that would be astronomical.

Yeah, that sounds a bit stout.

1800sqft single story. Maybe its all the detail type work. Old multipane windows and such. Just wasnt sure that seemed outrageous.

My sister just had this done in a larger home just a little east of Dallas for less than $3k and it looks amazing.

Had a two story 2400 ft home + casita painted for $10,000 + some carpentry work. Hardiplank.

Got a quote the other day for $7500 for a wood siding 1050 foot pier and beam with a lot of scraping and trim replacement at the bottom.

Central Austin.

No doubt..

I painted my house 2 years ago, 2 story (3 in the back with garden level basement), 2600sf, 100% siding, 30+ windows.
Took 32 gallons of base paint, 8 of trim. My same model in the neighborhood, most people were paying ~$6k-$7k

I bought the paint (got a hella hook up for SW Duration for $25/gallon) and hired a commercial painter I work with, labor only @$25/hr, I think I was in $1500+$1500.
Denver area.

This guy was on 30' extension ladders for the back and 1 side of my house, on roof for front and side.. more extension ladders in the front. It was a ton of work, and it took him a while (it was agreed that painting my house wouldn't take precedence over his actual 'work', which is work from my employer)

$8k for a house with a lot of brick seems more than double what it should be.. what kind of paint was in the scope?

Another data point for you: 2k sqft, brick and wood siding house, no brick painting, 4900 all in for SW duration rolled and brushed, Houston.

Shop it around, my quotes ranged from 3500 - 11k…

I wonder if anyone bids by-the-sf anymore?

Although a tool that might not be in tune with your locale, it's a genesis for cost projections
and offers options such as only trim , etc.

Got another quote today for $4500. 3200 sq ft single story house. We have quite a bit of wood to be stained as well.

$4500 including paint ?

That seems awfully low. Be leery if it doesn't add up.

We had our home on Lake Livingston painted in December. 2450 sq ft, 1 1/2 story plus walk out basement. Exterior is primarily wood with a small amount of hardie siding and trim. House was pressure washed, then extensively caulked and painted, including painting the underside of some decking that was previously bare wood. Also included painting the siding of a 8x25 ft workshop attached to our carport.

$5500 total including materials and yes we will use them again.

OP - do you have a breakdown of cost of repairs vs cost of painting? We had quite a bit of siding and some trim replaced ahead of painting. That was by a different contractor and not included by the paint company.
