I thought I had noticed some damage to my hardwood floor recently, but I wasn't sure. After the rain this morning I found a few liters of water in the same place in my living room. I think it is primarily entering through the backdoor, but I notice a bubbled are on the wood paneling as well.

I've called Serv pro and a plumber who both said they probably wouldn't be able to fix the door. Anyone have any suggestions on who to call? Located near Missouri City.

First things first. Post pictures of the both sides of the door. Then set your phone on the ground and post a photo looking underneath the door. If you can get an attic photo above the wall, post that too, along with any plumbing fixtures in the area.

Not sure if these will help much, but here they are. I don't think I can get to where I need to in the attic easily so no photos from there at the moment.

Paneling damage inside about 2 feet from the door and below a large window.

I had a leak due to roof line at chimney that came down thru the wall and caused a bubble like that in my sheetrock.

Called homeowner insurance and got the repairs going.

I would suspect the window. Open up the wall behind that paneling and see what's dry and what's wet.

Alternatively, stand inside while someone sprays your door with a water hose. See if anything comes in. Don't do the window, because the leak may be hidden.

If you pull the paneling, be careful removing it. The real plywood stuff is harder to find. The box stores only carry pressboard paneling with a printed paper finish which is garbage compared to the older ply paneling

Get your HO insurance involved. Servpro may start opening things up as part of the remediation.

A couple of liters is a lot of water, I would be concerned.

Is there an overhang or does the door get full exposure? Same for window?

That threshold is very suspect . Is this home new to you? If not, did you or someone else do the caulking? Seems like there was an issue and someone tried a fix. Either way, that doesn't look water tight, but not bad enough for liters of water unless it's getting full exposure to elements.

As others have said, the window could more likely be the root cause, especially with that sheet rock damage.

If you have any over hangs, check the flashing and draining to make sure roof run off is directed away from any opening.

Lastly, those look like hardwoods. You do not want those to get compromised. The fix for that is worse (cost and scope of repair) than getting problem addressed now.
