Texags:
I wanted to ask for help on Texags for help / advice on how to remove my washer tub (actually the Platform/Bearing Assembly Part#320). However I have to get the tub removed first Part#316. I have searched endlessly online and cannot find instructions on this specific model GTW810SSJ1WS. They have other models and I have tried versions of the descriptions and nothing works.

I am trying to remove the tub to replace the Platform Bearing Assembly. I know it is corroded after years of use, however I am trying not to break the tub. I have applied citric acid for ~3-4 weeks. It cannot soak because the acid just flows through the bearing assembly.

At the end of the day, I think there is one more connection, allen screw or locking mechanism holding the tub in place. I have taken photos and attached the following pictures.

Any mechanical engineers on here who can tell me how this tub may be attached. After 4 weeks, I think the ctiric acid should have broken through the corrosion and it should release. That is why I think there is one more step I am missing.

Thanks!

Here is another photo with a little better light and angle. I have cleaned it out and I can see the bearing seal at the bottom. There are vertical teeth on the shaft and I thought that all I have to do is break the corrosion between the teeth on the shaft and teeth on the tub to get the tub to release. However all the spokes teeth next to the plastic make me think that there is another type of locking mechanism and I need a tool.

FYI I already tried a spanner wrench TB123A for washer tubs and it did not work. It was too large. I do know that the tub nut in the photo is 33mm (1 5/16"). I used an impact wrench to get this off.

Thanks!

Hope you have access to chinese or small children to get it back together. Or carnies. Small hands are the most essential tool for washer reassembly.

Thanks for the recommendation on appliance part pros and i will see if they can help. I tried another website, and they said it should be free after removing the tub nut…. I am in the final stages of messing with this. I have been patient and no rush. I originally wanted to take on the challenge to fix it.

Next step would be to break out the sawzall to start cutting out the platform bearing assembly. That is the last step right before getting frustrated and hauling it to the dump.

I just wanted to try TexAgs on the possibility someone knows about this type of mechanism. TexAgs answered a very obscure problem I had on my 2000 4Runner odometer / random fuses. Cars are more fun to work on than modern appliances that only last < 5 years… by design.

Thanks again!
