I have a whirlpool wall-mount single electric oven (this one) and the bottom middle interior enamel coating is cracking. It smells moderately-to-severely horrible when I turn the oven on. I scrubbed it all with soapy water and a brush, the smell got better but did not completely go away.
What can be done? Seems the interior is just one big piece. I've heard of high-heat sealant but is that just a temporary stop-gap? Not really wanting to spend $1500 to replace the entire thing, although I will if that's the only option (that option makes my wife most comfortable).
EDIT: I'll add -- I am not original owner of oven, but it's 3 years old. I contacted Whirlpool and they are pointing me to a repair technician. I already had a non-Whirlpool guy out to ensure it wasn't the electric wiring or heating element -- he says it's the enamel cracking that's making the smell.
Thanks!
