Does anyone have any experience with louvered pergolas? I'm looking at a structure to cover our patio. Our initial design had the structure shown below made out of wood with a pergola attached, but my wife liked the modern look of the aluminum pergolas.

Of course aluminum may be superior to wood in Texas in many ways & even resale.

Anything that moves, then does not move immediately due to debris, leaves, etc. becomes a waste of money, frustration and maintenance ... contrary to the goals associated with aluminum.

You may see more of these up North, accompanied with rolling shade/walls to "weatherproof" a deck, patio covered with such.

If a fixed version costs impressively less, then I would vote for that.

What's in vogue these days are the Lexan covered pergolas .... e.g.

I'm in Colorado, so I'd have to see how they can handle snow too.

I've been looking at some from a company called Sorara. May pull the trigger on a 10x10 for the courtyard.

Something like this? Aluminum with two sides.

I have a louvered roof aluminum patio cover from Brustor on a patio off my master bathroom with built-in roll up screens and led lighting. It's awesome.

These look good. Any idea if they can be 100% waterproof and the cost?

I'm not 100% sure about the weathering. I had an intro call with a rep a few months ago and I forget the exact price but I think a 10x20 is north of $25K.
