Has anyone installed one of these?

What do you recommend (low, medium or high pressure)?

I have a 45' x 14' patio that I am trying to keep a little cooler during the summer. The front of the house is South/Southeast facing so the back of the patio (towards the house) doesn't get too bad with the ceiling fans on (I have 3 equally spaced out). I am wondering how effect those misting systems are at actually making it feel cooler? How effectively do they evaporate water in Seabrook (Southeast Houston, towards Kemah, 2 miles from the water)?

It seems like an oscillating fan with high pressure misters is the way to go? This way the mist is annoyingly concentrated in one area leading to stuff getting wet after a while. I could also automate it to where the misters turn on/off on a duty cycle (lets say 2 min on, 4 min off or whatever) while the fans the additional oscillating fans stay on to help keep everything dry and air circulating.

Thoughts/ideas?

Much of the evaporation you are concerned about will be determined by the droplet size itself.

Some amazon kits get rated mediocre because the nozzle is cheap and doesn't give the fine spray you need to cool you, but not get you soaking wet.

I bought one from HD last year to play with and it worked really well, but it was a basic kit just to try out.

My uneducated thought is it's entirely too humid where you're located for a misting fan to have a positive effect????

I'd agree with that for the most part, but misting even in humid environments can be done, it just gets expensive. You have to have high pressure and nozzles small enough to produce tiny tiny water droplets that are able to 'flash evaporate'.

Go to Glorias at I10 at 99 in Katy to see them in action. I was impressed.

Does Gloria's have a system that works well?

I was thinking about getting this system:

It seems to work quite well. We have sat outside on the patio 2 times in the last week or so and it was comfortable.

I believe it is a Jetstream system.

We had mister fans at our wedding reception in Houston.. it was a disaster. They just don't work in 80% humidity.

Any idea if they were low/medium/high pressure?

This one seems pretty easy... see if your local glorias has the mister system and go check it out to see if it works.

If it does, use the same system or emulate it.

I can confirm this system works but it is relative to what type of relief you are expecting.

I've thought of putting a mister on this fan, but worry that it'll destroy the door over time. Thoughts?

How do you keep the nozzles from getting plugged with hard water deposits? Im not putting a water softener for a misting system. This has been the reason I've been hesitant to buy one.
