Shopping for a new fridge as our Samsung is on its last legs. Anyone have recs on ones you like and are reliable? Also recs on ones to avoid are appreciated. One thing I can tell you is my new one won't be a Samsung. Reading reviews online the conclusion I've come to is they all suck and have crappy parts in them.

My wants are French door with water/ice in the door. Everything else is superfluous to me.

I have a Bosch dishwasher I really like which has me intrigued with their fridges. Anyone have one?

We have a Bosch and it is great. One of the advantages to us is that it DOES NOT have through the door ice and water. Much easier to keep clean . Water is just inside the door so plenty handy.

Sorry you got a lemon.

Even if suspect as being on sale in 2013, this one has kicked all previous units in the butt and is still flawless.
The ice maker replacements in past were every 2-3 years ... only ONE replacement (that was EZ DIY) with this unit.

French door with ice in door are a crapshoot. Its just hard to engineer a reliable ice maker in a fridge space that wont leak. If you want 10+ yr reliable gotta go with a side by side.

We ditched samsung french door and got a GE french door last year. No leaks so far but the filters have some proprietary BS rfid chip and they cost more which is agravating. Also GE is owned by and made in China so i fully expect my $2k fridge will die in 5 years.

We have a Bosch french door. It has been really good so far. We are about 18 months in and no complaints.

For what it's worth, this is all fridges, not just Samsung. Lots of threads every year on this exact topic.

Hated Samsung with freezer drawer but ended up buying the Samsung 4 panel door model recently. Love it (like an unhealthy amount). Gets great reviews.

We have had good success with KitchenAid.

My LG frech door / 2 freezer drawer / ice & water in the door fridge is 12 years old and everything still works like it did when it was new, even after being moved across the country for a move a long time ago. It may be an outlier but it was a really good buy.

I would say you are the outlier. My in laws, sister in law, sister, and myself all had LG's and everyone of them had the compressor fail. Every repairman I called said they didn't recommend replacing, the new compressors are terrible and most people would only see them last 3ish years. They said the fact that my original lasted 8 years was pretty good. To have it replaced under LG's "warranty" would have only been a cool $1,200.

Class action lawsuit with LG regarding them.

For sure, and there's also a bit of Murphy's Law at play here.

When I redid the kitchen in 2013-2014 I spec'd the fridge hole and utilities behind it for a Subzero. There was a construction accident around when I was ordering appliances at a rental I used to own and I decided to conserve cash because attorneys aren't exactly cheap. That meant using the fridge I already had and making a horse collar to go around it and fill the big gap on the top and sides. Since it's an LG I figured it would fail sooner rather than later and then I'd just go buy what I'd planned for.

An appliance you're waiting to fail so you can put in the planned replacement, wont.

We have a LG for 7yrs and the only issue we have is the ice chute flap doesn't open fully so ice can build up and you have to finger it to get it all to come out. If you don't then it will start to melt and solidify and create a blockage.

Have a kitchenaid dishwasher and its been great.

My former customer (pos) owns a appliance repair company in dfw and always said to stay away from Samsung and LG and stick w/ kitchenaid, whirlpool, maytag.

We've been pretty happy with our French door GE. I sought out the non-Energy Star version because it seems all energy star fridges have poor reliability and loud compressors.

Two techs from Buddy's Appliance Repair and Store in Bryan were working on a neighbor's home. I asked what type of refrigerator would you buy these days...both guys said GE. They said they remove a lot of Samsung and LG that are fairly new.
