I have an acre in Cypress, and my neighbors put in something like this:




I'd like to mimic this and bring a fence / gate from their fence to the corner of my garage in the front east side. And then run another fence from the west corner of my house to the property line west and then north to the back of the property to connect to my back neighbors fence.

We're planning to get a smallish dog soon and want to keep it contained, as well as any future chickens we get.

I'd estimate 2x 8-12 foot gates and about 180 - 200 ft total of fencing needed

How many rugrats are in your house? If it's less than 4, you can judge

They didn't pay for it... their parents owned the land, and gifted them the land and built them a new house for their marriage gift ... her dad is a pretty well off doctor type...

Brad knows stuff. Christmas just ended yesterday.

In first pic, welded wire was used instead of twisted which is cheaper so you know. Also, use treated posts and cedar rails…more expensive to use cedar but they won't bow horribly in a year. Use 8 centers. Think about doing away with the cover 1 bys…because of wood cost these days. Use screws and not nails. If you are going to contract the labor and material, you'll get in per foot ball park if you home depot the costs of material , normalize to per foot cost and then double it.

What does "use 8 centers" mean?

I assume 8 foot centers for the posts which is standard dimensions for a fence..

Horse panel comes in the same dimensions as plywood. This allows for it to fit on 8 foot centers.

agLA06 is right about what is meant by 8 foot centers, but those aren't horse panels in your pics. The pics show welded wire which comes in rolls. One of the pics appears to have 2" x 4" openings. Horse panels also have 2 x 4 openings but will have a much heavier gage wire and will be more expensive.

Well they don't have horses just dogs; but their parents built the fence before the house and had some small Shetland ponies running around 3-4 days a week.
