are there any good shower heads that have high volume and not just high pressure?

i bored out the regulator in my current shower head and the added pressure is great on hot water, but anything less than steaming hot and its lasers on the skin. get too close and same thing. I'm wanting high volume and pressure, not laser beams.

my folks' house have +15 year old shower heads that when they bored out the regulator feels like a fire hose or super heavy rain fall.. nearly knocks you over. i want that.

Shower valves today are built to limit the flowrate to typically under 2.5gpm. There's a good chance you can't access your valve to swap it out without tearing out something, and it even so, replacing it with a higher volume valve is going to be hard to find circumstantially.

When I redid my shower, I read you can install some diverged valves upside down (bathtub side) and the flow rate is better.

Correct, plus 2.5GPM is the max any head (or combination of) can dispense per US law since the mid 90's.

Plus, max flow rate for 1/2" pex is somewhere around 2.5GPM as well, so unless you have 3/4" supply lines and shower valve, anything higher than 2.5GPM head is useless.

I've purchased this one twice: Mirabelle MIRSH2080GBN 1.8 GPM Single Function Rain Shower Head. It is way too low flow out of the box, so the first one I completely removed the regulator. Volume was great, but the pressure eventually caused the showerhead to leak at it's edges. The second one, I only drilled around about a 1/8" hole in the regulator. Flow is good and no leaks since installing 2 years ago.

When we travel we stay at Marriott. I noticed a few years ago that I loved the shower heads they have. Bought a couple and they are pretty good.

Not sure which model I bought, but they have a large variety.

Yup. Like the one I listed above. They don't look like much but they hit you like a waterfall.
