Anyone know if this is a thing? What about equivalent vacuums? Need to have a buy once cry once vacuum purchase here. I'm on the 3rd purchase in about 5 years and we didn't necessarily cheap out in the past.

We have a Miele canister vac and it's been great for 8+ years

Our Dyson ball works well but is still a POS. Very flimsy and cheaply made, the goofy mechanism that locks the back 'wheels' so it will stand upgright is worthless. It'll come unlocked and collapse if you even make eye contact with it.
It is very maneuverable and does what it is supposed to do. For the money though I'd expect a much sturdier product.
Our last Dyson Animal (bought circa 2006 or 2007) was significantly better built. We only got rid of it because no amount of cleaning or filter replacement could get rid of the horrible smell that it created when in use.
Going with Miele whenever I get fed up with this one to the point that I just want it out of the house.

Everyone posting, mind posting which model you have purchased?
Those familiar with miele, does their base $300 model have similar construction to their mid range $500-$800 models, just lacking features?
I see no one has posted about shark vacuums. They seem gimmicky to me but I have seen several advertised deals on models that are normally $500ish. Any input? I feel like they will also be cheap plastic junk.
