I'm looking into a home renovation while also adding onto the existing structure of my house. I'm located in far north Dallas if that matters.

Has anyone used an architect for their home project that they would recommend?

Thanks in advance!

Well, where NOT to look is greedy Home Advisor or Angi and then there's that yellow dog Yelp ... all Self Serving, not looking out for you. Even the BBB has become this way with a blind eye toward the really gad, taking in money is the goal of all above.

is a beginning and what you want to query is
RESIDENTIAL SPECIALIST

Avoid commercial architects that will give your bone to their new dog apprentice to cut his teeth on, with mistakes being corrected by 1-2 others in the firm, all charging fees.
Avoid design-builders with in-house "architects", whose hands will be tied and your options limited to what the boss builder wants to do that's EZ & high-profit.
Ideal would be a true licensed architect firm with less than 3.

That said, finding a REMODELING EXPERT builder that is not distracted by other types of building depends on an architect to finish up designs he begins might be shortcut, however limited your options may be

I used Cusimano Architect out of Houston for my remodel. Very pleased with his process. Did most of our stuff via zoom, but he came by the property a few times to get firsthand views of what we were wanting to do. I know he's done a lot of stuff in the hill country as well.

Huntington built our home. Part of the Highland Homes family. Solid, honest company.

We used Jeremy and loved working with him! He does both new construction and remodels. He lives up in the Lewisville area.

I second Huntington. We did a renovation with them last year and we are very pleased. The in house architect is Ian Grey and he is very good at listening to what you want and guiding you with what is feasible/in your budget.

I guess this doesn't explicitly say he's a licensed architect, but that is the basic function he performs for the company. I know he has a degree in architecture and is proficient in both spatial and structural design.

Thanks everyone for the replies and suggestions! If anyone else is looking, Eric LaPointe was recommended to me after my initial post. I met with him last week and he seems like he may be able to help me.

tgivaughn - Eric is licensed based on your link so that gives me reassurance. I appreciate the help!
