Had to plane and stain 105 fence boards to put up for the ceiling. I'll do metal roofing on top of that. Just didn't want to see the metal from the ground.

First panel went up well. Would of had a really productive afternoon but then the rain hit so I had to call it a day. Hope to get 2 or 3 more panels up tomorrow.

I can see the light at the end of the tunnel on phase 2. It's getting very close.

Looking good.

What's the reason for planing the boards?

Just to give it a cleaner look. The beams are rough cut and I liked how they looked but didn't want the whole thing looking like peach fuzz

I have 42 boards left to stain and then the last two panels can go up.

Awesome! I'm assuming this will also help muffle the noise of rain and hail a bit. Also in the case of bad hail won't be able to see dents from underneath

Final section of roof going on.

Roof complete.

Phase 2 is "officially" done. Still need to install the TV, lights, ceiling fans, and get patio furniture. But I'm calling construction done.

Phase 3 will be the kitchen. I'll be looking for input on how to do that and what to put in. I have cold water and sewer connections where the counter will be.

Great job.

There was a great thread on here a long time ago where a guy built his own outdoor kitchen that was awesome. Welded up steel frames and went from there. Might be worth some digging.

Update just for fun. Sold my house in March which was not at all planned when I did this work. The guy that bought my house replaced the roof and the roofers complained about the pergola so he let them take it down. Almost broke my heart when he told me. Oh well, it was a fun experience and now I have the blue prints to do it again if I want.
