Just curious what it would cost to build a ~1200 sq ft cabin from the ground up.

I see the kits for metal homes for $25k but since I'm not handy, would need the electrical, plumbing, and installation done professionally.

Just a fun thought to build on land near family. Thanks!

I just don't see how a solid kit could cost that little unless its really small. What is the square footage? My metal roofing is going up again starting today.

It's 1200 sq ft. I know very little of the industry but this would be the exterior and I'd still have to make the interior walls, plumb, and wire for electrical

Ah...OK. I have worked with Mueller before. They are on the high side of costs but I also believe that they are a no BS kind of company and the products they deliver are top notch. I would feel pretty comfortable with it, though you could certainly find it cheaper elsewhere...you can always find it cheaper....which may or may not be a good thing depending on your level of comfort.

Good to know. Since I'm not familiar with the industry, it's tough to know who offers quality products. At first, $25k seemed a good price, but now that I'm adding in the cost of install + plumbing/electrical, I'm not sure I could afford it. Will keep saving but feel free to send me any links of reliable, inexpensive residential dwelling options for a rural plot of land.

Currently, we stay with family when we visit, but it would be awesome to have our own "cabin" / getaway to use while we're there. Shoot, I'd stay longer if I had my own space to "play".
