What are the window sizes? What kind of material is he using (urethane, silicone, acrylic)? Is the caulking to be done from window frame to exterior facade or glass to window frame?

Sounds a little high, but maybe not too bad because a small job.

Are they scrapping and removing the old caulk? If so, that is 40.00 a window. I would pay 40 a window to remove, scrape and do it right.

4-500 a day is about what I'm seeing for a day rate for skilled paint labor.

Very rarely am i fully against a bid, but that bid is absolute garbage.

You should be paying one painter for one day of work for that scope of work.

My house has a multiple amount more windows and it took two guys 5-6 hours to do it. I paid 350. It is worth mentioning that i do have established relationship with them.

If you have a "painter" caulking your windows, they will need to be re-caulked at least every year (most likely using acrylic). Yes, you will get it done cheap, but it won't last and you are SOL if it leaks at all. There are plenty of guys out there that are "caulkers/waterproofers" that do this work for a living and provide warranties. Pay a little more and get it done by a professional.

No help on bid, but to make it worth the time, effort, and money I suggest you use high end caulking. I suggest OSI Quad Max and they have tons of colors to match your windows if not white.

So what kind of caulk should be used on windows? Inquiring minds would like to know!

Master Seal NP1 by BASF. Buy from high volume dealer, these have a best use by date.

Hard to know if it's a good bid without a linear footage.

I'm in construction and my caulkers are about $4/lf, but that is with a lift. Without it I'd imagine maybe 3-3.50.

Sikaflex 1A or Sikaflex 15LM (more movement capability)

Having spent more than a decade in that business my windows will always be caulked with NP-1. I remember when Sonneborn was acquired by BASF and they changed the name and the industry was concerned about changing the material. Thankfully, BASF did not.

NP1/Sikaflex 1A are good options and widely used. If you don't want to worry around re-caulking in about 5 years (Texas sun and heat beat urethanes up FAST) you can look into a silicone sealant like Dow 795. FWIW i have been in the waterproofing industry for almost 20 years.

62strat, if your caulkers are charging $3-$4/foot, i would love to earn your business!!!

well, my comparison may not be apples to apples. I'm in tilt up construction, so while my caulking subs do flatwork as well, roughly 60-70% of the linear feet they are caulking is the 40' vertical panel joints using a lift.

Tilt wall is pretty easy when it comes to the caulking scope. My email is below if you happen to be interested in any quotes.
