Time to replace my gas cooktop. currently i have a gas, 4 burner with downdraft on my kitchen island.
a. Do i have to replace it with another gas ct that has down draft feature to meet local/county code?
b. where would i find local/county code for home appliance installation/replacement?
located in fort bend county.

My last house in Fort Bend county had a gas cooktop with the microwave above it. The vent fan on the microwave did not vent outside. House was built in 2005.

My current house, also in Fort Bend, has a gas cooktop that with downdraft vent. Built in 2000.

Judging by that, experience with friends remodeling after Harvey, and a quick internet search, there is no code requirement for a gas stove to have an external vent in Fort Bend county. The only place I found it was definietly required was California.
