I know you get the one year from the factory. So what's the opinion on here. Should a purchaser keep with the extended factory or just get a box store warranty like the ones from Lowe's ? Either way I will have to buy the extended.

As a purchaser I never do but I buy cheaper stuff. However quite a few times through work I've seen the homeowner come out ahead with getting the extended warranty but mainly on just the bigger fridges and or ovens but the lower end brands.

That's because Lowe's isn't carrying the risk of claims. There is another company taking that risk. Lowe's just collects a commission. Doesn't mean insurance (extended warranty) is a bad idea per se.msechelski said:
