Howdy!

We're looking into building a house outside of College Station and one of the builders we're leaning towards uses Kent Moore cabinets. I was hoping to get some input, good or bad, of Kent Moore. We're looking at this being our 'forever home', so quality is super important, whereas price is secondary. The house will have the 'modern farmhouse' styling, so the cabinet doors will be extremely simple with a stained finish.

Any input would be great!

Thanks!!

They do fine work. As with any cabinet company, they have different levels of materials, hardware and finishes. It's going to depend on how much you want to spend.

I have them in my current house. I did not pick them, as it was a finished spec home when I purchased it.

The boxes are wood, but I think the doors are particle board (at least partially) due to the trim. I'm not a fan and wish they were solid wood.

The cabinets are painted cream with a brown glaze. It looks good at quick glance, but the paint chips very easily and is not easy to touch up - just something to think about, if you're considering painted cabinets.

My biggest gripe is the installation. In quite a few places there are crooked screws sticking out (inside the cabinets), splits in the wood, and just overall careless installation. I also have issues with stripping of the screws on the hinges of quite a few of the cabinet doors. I can tighten them, but over time, they get loose again and the doors hang crooked.

I would also go either full overlay or inset. I have partial overlay, and I think it looks weird because the cabinet door spacing is not the same. Just in my kitchen alone, I have doors that close flush with each other and doors that have about a 2" gap between them when closed. I just think it looks weird and would prefer it to be more consistent/symmetrical.
