Looking at building the pergola pictured below. What is going to be my best option for installing the 6x6 posts? Pier and bracket or direct bury?

I used these for my in-laws pergola a few years back.

Buried my 6x6 posts; however, I will have a solid roof that will catch more wind, also.

with a style like that, you may want to look at stronger options than the base mount like jaggie posted. I just see that setup wobbling and not being too stable since the footprint isnt that wide. if you could add another post on the left to help round out the semo circle that could help.

I would use 18"-24" sonotube 3'-4' deep with embedded supports similar to the above.

That guy is still just rated for up and down loads, not horizontal wind or moment loads. They have a new moment rated base that is CIP.

Have decided to bury the post to provide as much structural support as possible. Going with the Bob Villa method.
