Our washer is kaput and we are looking to buy a new one.

One annoying thing with our current setup is that the washer is on the right and the door opens from right to left. This makes it so there is a door in the middle when transferring clothes from washer to dryer.

My plan was to purchase a washer that has a door that opens from left to right, but those don't exist.

My other option is to run longer hose for the washer and put it on the left and run a longer vent for the dryer and put it on the right.

Is this going to cause me problems?

tldr;

Can you put dryer on right hand side and run longer vent without causing performance issues with drying the clothes?

Thanks!

What model washer? We had to change the door on out drier. It was fairly complicated but it was designed to be able to swap the door swing direction.
This

Most models allow the door to be switched to open either direction.

On another note, consider a top loader, they are so much better on just about every level.

Does your dryer vent terminate through a wall or go up through the roof ?

Adding 2 - 3 ft of dryer duct should not cause an issue
While you have it apart I would clean the entire vent with a brush attachment and a drill or hire it out if you are not comfortable DYI

You could also purchase a top load washer to alleviate longer lines for the washing machine

dryer vent goes through the roof. edit: I think it vents to the roof, but maybe not?

washer/dryer is on 2nd floor. House is 3 story townhome.

I have found a ton of dryers where the door reverses. I think most/all dryers door reverse.

Washers I have only found one brand - Electrolux that has a reverseable door. Anyone ever reverse the door on an LG or Samsung washer? Any other washer brands?

My samsung dryer has bolt holes on the open side made for changing, but the door doesn't line up when you flip. It's clear you have to buy a new door... unbelievable.

I have an LG set similar to this one and love it.

Sounds like you want a front loader but I really am happy with this top loader. I would recommend it over a front loader.

This is your easiest solution without having to change any lines on either

Also you don't have to deal with mildew issues and leave the door cracked like on a front load washer

I have had the older version of this for 6 or 7 years now and has been the best washer i have owned
