air compressor acting up

Have a 20 gal Husky compressor. Turn it on and it compresses to 100 psi and then stops. It used to go to 150 psi. I use it and air is depleted, but it never auto turns back on. If I turn it off for 60 seconds and back on, it will compress, even higher than 100 psi.

I don't see any setting or anything, but the fact that the first go round it goes to 100 psi every time makes me think there should be.

There should be a high pressure switch that controls the compressor. I don't know where it is, but that's what's controlling the running of the machine.

I would suspect the sensor is partially bad. Once it hits 100 psi, it thinks it is 150 psi and shuts off. But as the pressure drops, it is either sticking or reading high still. Should be an easier repair if you can find the part.

Switch ordered. Probably should have pulled it first and looked up a way to test it.

All air compressors have a check valve between the compressor and the tank. The check valve separates the higher pressure in the tank from the lower pressure at the compressor. This is your dilemma grasshopper.....

Do you drain water valve at bottom. Rust can affect pressure switches
