Couple of questions if I may..

Where'd ya get the wooden forms? I found nothing like those at our local Home Depot.

Also, what size bags of concrete only went 10' for four bags? It didn't seem to go very far, and that's concerning for the old back and muscles here as I make plans of my own.

Don't skimp on weed block. I got this inexpensive, but effective fabric at Lowes.

Wood forms are 1/4" plywood cut into 4" wide strips. You can also buy various sized of wooden stakes.

No doubt. I'm going to kill that grass. Till it up and level the bed. Put down the weed barrier, then plants, then river rocks.

By chance, are you in the panhandle? That water tower in the background looks very panhandleish.

To answer the concrete bag question: I used 80lb bags. 19.5 in total. I originally bought 17. But, I didn't account for the squeeze-out at the bottom of the forms where they didn't reach completely to the ground.

So you didn't float the surface? That finish is pretty rough.

Looks good! I did something similar to my old house about 7 years ago. There is no need for steel in this application, so your fine. The only purpose of steel is to restrain movement, not prevent cracking, significant difference. Given how you cut joints in the concrete at what appears to be a good spacing and location, the chance of cracking elsewhere is negligible and even if it does, it still wont go anywhere, so be glad you didnt waste the time and money.

Ive been wanting to do it again at my new house, but use a decorative colored concrete with a stamp but havent quite figured out how to do the stamp. Ive thought about building it using styrofoam but im afraid it will look terrible....
