I've been using nitrophos for a few years now but I'm not sure that I'm seeing the success that I've expected with my St. Augustine yard. What brand of fertilizer do you guys use/recommend?

I don't think brand matters as much as making sure you have the correct ratio for your yard and make sure it is at least 50% slow release.

Near the BCS area go purchase at Producers Coop. They have what your lawn needs. Plus their bags are 50 pounds not 40 pounds as the nitrophos products. Lesco also has good fertlizer in 50 pound bags. Stay away from the Randy Lemmon hype unless you have a lot of money.

I've used this from Lowe's with great success. It has the 3-1-2 ratio that you want to look for (4-1-2 is ok as well) and has added iron.

I would recommend the Lesco as well. Started using it last year because I have St Aug and Bermuda in different parts of my yard and the same Lesco will work on both. St Aug is doing better than the Bermuda

I've been using Micro-life and Nitri-phos for a couple of years with good results.

Is there a place in Houston where you can buy Lesco or is it online only?

I used milogranite a couple times towards the end of last year's season and my Bermuda reacted very well to it. Going with it again this year.

SiteOne owns the Lesco brand. The Lesco products at SiteOne stores are superior to the Lesco products sold at box stores. You can use the store locator to find the closest store to you and ask the staff for recommendations.
