About 3 weeks ago we woke up and found a dozen or so dry wood termites crawling on the window in our dining room. The long wings, yada yada (not to confused with flying ants).

Coincidentally local pest control was coming out the next day for run the mill quarterly spray. The guy basically said if we see a few then not to worry about it. If we start seeing them all the time we might have a problem. He told me drywood s are equally bad because often times you can't pinpoint the source, so last resort is tenting the house (they apparently don't even offer this so he was just telling me).

Well 2-3 weeks have gone by and they are showing up frequently, especially (right now) in the kitchen. I've only actually seen 1 live one, but we're finding the stupid wings all over the place on the counters etc. wife took the light cover off above the sink and there was probably a dozen dead ones in there.

Not sure my next move. The wall that the sink/dishwasher is against is the garage wall. I don't see anything obviously weird or stuff crawling out of holes, evidence of them, etc. looked under/in all the cabinets (including under sink), nothing out ordinary. I guess next I'll go look around in the attic.

The pest control guy did comment that the think with drywood is finding them. That you can't just start ripping out drywall etc. Told me that they'll be on one side off the house, follow a electrical line or similar and come into the house on the other side.

Anyways, what's my next move here?

Move everything out. Make hamburgers on the stove. Grease fire burns down the house along with the termites. Build new house.

Where are you located?

I would say next step is tenting.....and really I would've said tenting right after the first few were found

Went up to the attic this morning before it got hot to look around on the side of the house we're we have been seeing them inside.

Didn't see any infestations, bugs, etc that would raise a flag to my untrained eye. Nothing blatantly obvious, anyways.

Ugh. Guess I'll see if they keep appearing magically out of then air.

The thing with tenting is once the poison dissipates then they could come right back in. I'd do it as a last resort. Look for tiny holes in the drywall with little piles of what looks like dust in off places. They eat their way through things and then crap it out behind them.

Call some fumigation companies and get their opinions. As I recall it only takes having 11 or so left alive to start a new colony.

Bad thing about drywood termites is you may not see any evidence of where they may be in different parts of the house. Tenting is expensive, but not near as expensive as the Tenting + Repairs if they start doing some major damage.

Guess I'll be making calls on Monday.

Woke up this morning and found them in 3 different rooms (including 1 we haven't seen them in before). I guess they are nocturnal, or sure seems like it. Still no traces of source or entry that my untrained eye can see.

Thing is, I don't even care about cost at this point. What I care about is having to basically remove all contents of our house and then pump it full of toxic/deadly gas. Oh and then move my family back in afterwards. I mean people do it everyday I'm sure, but that sounds like cancer to me.

****!

The fumigation sounds like such a cluster I'd rather just start blindly ripping out dry wall.

Coastal Fumigators or End o Pest out of Houston might be able to help or at least recommend someone. It's who we always refer to in town.
