Timbertech vs Axek composite decking?

Anybody have experience with composite decking?

Building a new deck and trying to decide on material. We like the color of Timbertech, but have seen a few negative reviews (all on internet and who knows if true). Axek has their own brand that doesn't include any natural materials...all PVC. Timbertech does include some wood in the material.

Any advice on composite decking?

Father In Law used Timbertech for his deck and it looks great.

I used Trex for my dock and it looks great

Currently getting a 12x38 deck/patio done in Azek. Ultimately decided to go with it versus timbertech because it was 100% pvc so maintenance on it should be zero.

Why less maintenance because it's 100% PVC? Isn't the Timberteck made up of pvc and wood and then wrapped all around in PVC.

My dad has a 20 year old trex deck that he has done absolutely nothing to, and it still holds up and looks great.

The whole point of spending the extra money on composite decking is for zero maintenance. Any one of the brands mentioned so far should be zero maintenance

...and no slivers

in theory the other composites that have x% wood in them have wood in them and therefore could be susceptible to the things that come with that. Also - Azek has 30% less heat retention. So, composite decks in the blazing TX sun burn like hell. Azek helps prevent that. It's also much lighter which only really matters on the structural side of things IMHO.

There are people that have had Trex and Timbertech with 0 issues yet there are tons of other examples where it has been a nightmare. In speaking with multiple folks who sell and install the stuff, they don't ever get called back to fix Azek.

...and honestly, it isn't THAT much more expensive (also the warranty is better)

We've had Azek for several years and are very happy with it. Easy to install and it's holding up great.
