I need some help pulling the trigger on the pool lining materials for my pool remodel. I've heard that some pebble finishes can be really rough on your feet, but obviously have the best warranty. I've also seen products like Primera Stone and Hydrazzo that look and feel exceptional but also come with a serious price tag. Anyone recently built/remodeled a pool and can give me some insight into what you chose?

I have pebble. It looks great, especially when the sun hits it at different angles. I've only experienced it being rough on the feet if i'm constantly pushing off the sides while swimming and launching kids. Otherwise, just normal swimming is not noticeable. I noticed the same thing on older normal white plaster pools so maybe it's not really due to just pebble.

There's also smooth pebble you can buy as well.

Pebbletec here as well. Looks great, longer warranty, doesn't stain and I think it's much easier on your feet and hands. Smooth plaster tends to rub skin off fingers and toes when in the pool for a long time and the pebble finishes don't have that issue at all.

Check out Aquabright... it's a polymer, non-reactive finish applied on top of the plaster available in multiple colors. Just installed it in my pool and you can vary the texture from smoother to rougher based on your preference and/or placement (i.e., rougher on steps to avoid slips). My builder offers(ed) a lifetime warranty on it but think they have since backed off to the standard manufacturer 10-yr warranty now. Supposedly easily repaired if needed.

Just finishing up a build and we went with something called "mini pebble". Looks great. I haven't been in the pool yet, so will have to report back on the feel.

Pebble Sheen here. Pebble tech was too rough from what we could tell with the samples. It's an upgrade you won't regret. Also, if you're worried about wearing skin, stay away from flagstone coping.

I'm gonna go check out a check out a couple of the most recent builds my contractor did in pebble to feel it for myself. I really really love the texture of Primera Stone but it's 12k+ for 22,000 gallon pool.

I'm also doing my coping in blue gray leuder and decking in travertine.

two year old pool and we went with Crystal Stones. We had the same worry with Pebble Tec. The Crystal Stones look and feel awesome

The most important thing about a pool remodel is to find a contractor that is worth a poop

I have remodeled 2 and built 1

I am batting 1 for 3

They are shifty folks
