We are building a new house and have been looking at front entry doors. The iron doors in the stores we have looked at are all north of $3,500, most around $5,000.

Looking around online I came across Pinky's Iron Doors. www.pinkysirondoors.com

These doors look exactly like what we want and are less than half the price of the ones in the store, even factoring in shipping.

Does anyone have any experience with this company? Any reason to be skeptical from your view? TIA.

Check out pivot doors, we put one in the house we remodeled this summer and it's been great.

Looking at iron door options for house.

I actually drove over there a while back when we were looking for a door and railing for our decks.
We ended up going with someone a little more local who made it worth our while as Pinkys does not do anything that isn't door and window related ..(no railings).

The only negative I would say with regards to ordering from them would be distance if there is an issue but they get great reviews.

We put the air 5 in a few months back...it's awesome and they are very helpful. Only issue we had was the limited locks that work on the door.

We installed a pinky's door a few months ago. We're in dallas. They were awesome to work with and VERY patient with all our questions. The installer we used said he'd never installed a pinky's door but didn't have any issues. It feels very solid/heavy. All around we are very pleased

Mcw: Looking at Air5, can't find anything even close locally (Houston), are you still enjoying? Did you install yourself? If you hired it out, care to share your installer?

Yes we still enjoy the door! Can't beat the price even with the shipping costs. Our contractor installed the door as part of a large remodel....sorry No help on an installer. It looked like fairly simple install assuming you don't have to modify the rough opening. The doors weigh a ton so would take a few extra hands.

Anyone else have any thoughts or comments on Pinky's or buying/having one installed in the Metroplex? Or other positive iron door installs (not new construction) in the Metroplex? PM sent to Bottlerocket.

I found out about Pinky's here, probably this thread. I ordered one and installed it this past summer. Highly recommend. The quality and service were great. I installed myself, I would not recommend installing yourself unless you are pretty advanced. I could see someone charging you a lot to install.

One thing to consider if you are doing standard height door, you might be limited on hardware and lock options. The model I went with only had a few choices for a one piece handle/lock unit based on specs.
