Anyone messed with one? Need a second one for a bit and don't want to drop several hundred on a real one. I'm fairly certain its a big ol' glob of pot metal, but will it break day one or break day 30 on the third hammer strike?

Are the Irwin ones from Lowes any better?

Mine are not pot metal. Have multiple sizes including table drill press and bench. They are fine for holding stuff steady while hammering.have similar sized professional ones and similar weights drill press one has to much slop to precisely position small holes.
They may be made from chineese toxic waste but its heavy and solid toxic waste

Irwin sucks. I do a ton of clamping and harbor freight has some pretty good ones. If you are looking for pipe clamps then the HF ones are really good. I think I like the bessey bar clamps better than HF though.

I know you were talking about vices, but I still think Irwin sucks.

I have one and it's had many chances to break - 3 pound sledge and full swing hits... No damage.
