How long do you want to ignore this user?
I'm trying to install a Nest at my parent's house, but their house has a humidifier also installed. I've looked around on the Nest website, but I guess I'm just not understanding it all.

Currently, the thermostat has the standar red, white, yellow, and green. I can easily install and connect that. But the humidifier is attached to the R and Y terminals. So when you look at the connections on the thermostat, there are two wires connected to the R terminal and two wires connected to the Y terminal.

My guess is I shouldn't have two wires connected to their terminals in the Nest, but I wasn't sure what to do.

Any thoughts?

https://nest.com/support/article/Is-my-humidifier-dehumidifier-compatible-with-Nest

quote:
The Nest Learning Thermostat is compatible with most whole home humidifier and dehumidifier systems that connect to your thermostat with one or two low voltage wires. Professional installation is recommended for these kinds of systems.

Some humidifiers or dehumidifiers have one wire that can be inserted into the Nest Thermostat's connector. However, if your system has two wires, a professional will need to add a component in order to install the Nest Thermostat.

Compatible wires have one of the following labels:

Humidification labels:
H, HUM, HUM1, H2, HUM2
Dehumidification labels:
D, DH, DHUM, DEHUM, D2, DH2, DHUM2, DEHUM2
If you don't have wire labels that match one of the labels above, take a picture of your wires and email it to Nest support. We'll let you know if you're compatible.
