Starting to believe we might have a foundation issue at our house and need to get someone to look as soon as possible. Any have any suggestions for a reputable company?

I used KB Foundation Repair out of Baytown. He's a local guy who spent 12+ years with one of the big names, and is now out on his own. He's done 4 houses on my street, and has been successfully recommended to 4-5 more by my neighbors.

Gave me a better price than Atlas, Allied, or Hytech.

If I hadn't found KB, I would have gone with Hytech, based on price & presentation. Atlas came in and spent 20 minutes bashing the other guys, after handing me a price almost double my other bids.

If you want the very best with best warranty call Kenny Duton at DUWEST Fond. Repair. You cannot go wrong, they are state wide and honest.

Did y'all get a structural engineer out to do a report? I'm having a couple companies here come out to look at our house but think it is good to get an independent report.

Anyone have a good recommendation?

Thanks

You can have a foundation repair company come out and give you a quote, but before you pay to have your foundation repaired, have a structural engineer (civil engineer) come out to give you their solution.

We live in New Braunfels and had a reputable foundation repair company come out after we noticed some cracks - they found that one side of the house had dropped 3 inches, and quoted us $18,000 to fix it with beams that went down to the bedrock. At the recommendation of someone on here, we called a structural engineer, paid $250-$300, they discovered the same measurements, and gave us reasons why we were having these foundation issues after the house has been standing for 20 years and instructions on where to bury a soaker hose that would fix the issue within 6 months. They'll come out again at that point to re-measure, etc.

We used MLAW, and I believe they have a Houston office. http://www.mlaw-eng.com/

Great - thanks all. I will email MLAW. Any other recommendations for an engineer?
Is about $300 the typical rate for the inspection?

I found Sealy Engineering (he's an Aggie) online. I'm going to call him as well.
