Randy Lemmon Fertilization Schedule


Hey all.

I'm having some difficulty identifying recommended fertilizers and could use your help. Primarily need assistance with the Oct-Nov winterized formula and pre-emergents for Late Oct - Early Nov. Your help is much appreciated.

I use nitro-phos for both this time of year. In Houston they are at both Ace Hardware and Garden Center.

+1 for Nitro Phos. Been following that schedule the last couple years and my yard looks better than ever.

I am in Bryan-College Station and have had good luck buying the winterizer formula from Producers Co-Op in Bryan. It has the same ratios recommended in Randy Lemmon's guide.

Sorry, I should have mentioned that I live in Houston and have St. Augustine. Looked for the Nitro-phos on Amazon.com, but had no luck. I guess I'll have to go to the Ace Hardware close to our house.

I am a new homeowner in Houston and was looking for the same thing. I went to Southwest Fertilizer over on Bissonet and they helped out a lot. I think they make their own blend, but the biggest help was the people in the store. They helped me find just what I needed as I was pretty green (no pun intended) on this subject.

I got a winterizer and pre-emergent from them along with some other good advice.

Randy Lemmon and Ace Hardware are partners/sponsors of each other. I have had pretty good success finding most products he talks about at Ace Hardware. You can even pick up a Randy Lemmon schedule at the Ace Hardware near me.

Stupid question....the fertilizer and pre-emergent are separate things...right? When do you do one vs. the other? Or are there all in ones that comply with his schedule? Several people mentioned Nitros Phos...do yall use that for both the fertilizer and pre-emergent?

I use N-P for all my ferts and fall pre-emergent. I use Fertilome for late winter and late spring pre-e.

I put down fall fert a couple of weeks ago and pre-e yesterday. I should be good until Feb.

And yes, they are separate items. However, some folk like the 2-in-1 weed and feed. N-P has one, but Scotts brands are the most popular. I like separate applications.

Yes, the brown bag is the fert you want and the yellow for weeds. Be carful as the fungus control is also yellow. Heck, I think their insect control is yellow, too. The one you want has Barricade in the title.
