Looking to buy a great quality, fast, easy to use knife sharpener.

Anyone found something out there that they really like?

I don't have personal experience with it, but I was looking online at sharpeners recently, and the Lansky PS-MED01 Blade Medic (link below) gets excellent reviews on Amazon and is inexpensive. I was thinking about ordering one.

What kind of knives? If for the kitchen, I don't know how you can do much better than a Chefs Choice unit.

best and cheapest I've found that really works for kitchen butcher knives is from Ikea for less than $5.00

Worksharp. I tried it on some old cheap knives first. Thing is awesome. I can sharpen 3-4 knives to shaving sharp in 10 minutes.

Which of the Worksharps have you two used? There are several electric models and a wetstone field sharpener.

An electric knife sharpener looks like it would remove entirely too much material. I'm sure it would make a keen edge, but you would not want to do it very often.

I use various stones from 1000 grit to a norton 4k/8k, then a strop with chromium oxide. I have these primarily for honing my straight razors, but periodically do my kitchen knives as well. Yes this method is slow and really expensive.

I also have a chef's choice that keeps kitchen knives shaving, which I use the vast majority of the time. It's sharp but not as keen as on a stone.
With the stones and strop, I'm able to cut a hanging hair with a kitchen knife, which is a hell of a thing.

Stones require time and developed skills. My work sharp gas 3 belts. I don't use the course, it re-grinds an edge. Hit it a few times on medium and 10-15 times on polish and it's good to go. It has guides that keep the angle correct. Removing too much material would be a problem on a grinder with a guard, not a worsharp. They're small, and awesome

I used a lanky diamond set previously. Great sharpener, but it took lots of time

Chefs choice 120. I got one for Christmas last year and I love it. Super easy to use and does a great job. I took it to my in laws at thanksgiving and now my BIL and FIL both want one for Christmas.
