Lots of water dripping from attic overflow hose

The hose thingy that sticks out from under the roof overhang is dripping pretty constantly. Enough to leave a good size puddle right up against the house. Its right over the a/c unit if that helps determine what it is. Should this be a concern? Or is it just from the a/c working really hard? It's been warm lately, but nothing like earlier in the summer and I haven't ever noticed it dripping this much before.

By hose thingy you mean a PVC pipe stubbed out? If so, your condensate drain line from your AC is clogged.

The word "thingy" is just stupid and should be permitted only by dumb women who don't know better. Please try to never use it again.

This is probably the overflow drain for your AC unit. That means the primary drain is clogged. It is probably clogged because of mold. Go into your attic and look for the primary drain line, which is probably a PVC pipe that drains either into a sink drain or an external drain near the foundation. Locate the vent and pour bleach or drain cleaner through it.

After looking in the attic, the overflow pan under condenser has standing water in it and the hose thingy (couldn't resist, if ironhead Hayward could use it in a commercial about a loofah, I'm gonna continue to use it) is the overflow line. The main line is set up to drip to the same place my clothes washer drains. I'm going to try to suck out the clog with a wet/dry vac, but I don't see an access point to pour drain clog solution on the unit in the attic. I'm going to look again in the morn.

When I find it, what do you suggest using to pour down the line to prevent clogs in the future? Bleach? Vinegar? Drano?

Most folks use bleach once a month.

Don't use bleach if you have aluminum coils, it will corrode them

I made an adapter from PVC connectors to hook the shop vac up to the drain line and it cleared the clog. It was pretty gross and it seems to be working correctly now.

However, there doesn't seem to be an access point to clean it on the main drain pipe anywhere. It is just a straight PVC pipe out of the a/c unit. About a foot away from the drain pipe on the side of the unit, there is a pair of 3/4 inch holes that are threaded and one has a blue cap and the other has a red cap. It has a sticker near them that says not to use corrosive chemicals, just to use warm soapy water to clean drain. Is that where I should somehow pour something to clean the pipe? And which one should I pour it into, red or blue or both?

I may just suck it out with the shop vac once each six months...

Where your PVC turns 90 degrees and heads downward changed out to a "T" connector. Then you can have a length of PVC that goes upward to pour in your bleach. $2 fix. Cap the T.

Ours was doing the same and the the AC guy backflowed some water up the main outside drain line. Ours never has alge, it just gets clogged.

When the main drain line is clogged, all he does is turn on a water hose at medium/low speed and holds it to the main drain outlet and lets the water run up the drain for 10 seconds and then lets the water out. He does this till the drain runs clear.

I do this every six months or so and have not had any issues. Plus its better than ever having to go up in the attic for any reason.

Don't know how to make it non-mobile version, but I bet this will help:
