I renovated the master bathroom at our old house and here's the before/after so you can get an idea of material quality, and a cost breakdown. I supplied all labor and materials. It was my first go at basically everything in the whole project and took about 2 1/2 months.

After

Checking receipts...
Granite - from Lowes / $2,000 (mistake, should've went with a local place and saved)
Sinks - from Ferguson's (Mirabelle) / $450
Marble flooring / $1,000
Cabinets - Cardell / $1,950. Including the custom hamper and jetted tub frame.
Kerdi for the shower / $300 on Amazon
Valves x 4, showerhead, tub spout (Delta) - $700
Tile and mosaic for shower / $500
Frameless surround for the shower / $1,500
New fan for the water closet (Panasonic) / $250?
Total = $8,650. Bring it up to $9K once you add in supplies, venetian plaster, pulls, light fixtures, and whatnot. I could have saved some by buying the granite from the local place we used for the kitchen instead of Lowes, and buying the sinks, valves, fixtures and hardware online instead of from Ferguson's. Live and learn I guess.
I have no clue what this would have cost if it were contracted out but am curious if anyone knows.
